Heightened control measures are being enforced by the police in Western Attica since early on Friday – specifically in Elefsina, Mandra and Aspropyrgos – as part of a strict lockdown announced by Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias, in order to break the spread of the pandemic in these areas, ANA reports.
The plan has two main axes: Firstly, extensive testing by the National Public Health Organisation, carried out by officials that have gone to the area, accompanied by psychologists, who will participate in the effort to persuade the population to take the tests, and secondly, a strong police presence, to carry out intensive inspections and provide any assistance requested.
