Two people lost their lives on Christmas due to COVID-19, while authorities detected another 50 new cases in Cyprus, CNA reports.
A Ministry of Health announcement notes that a 71-year-old man and a 73-year-old man, both with underlying conditions, lost their lives due to COVID-19. The total number of deaths rose to 109, with 70 men (64%), and 39 women (36%) with a median age of 79 years.
It is added that 148 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, 42 of whom in a critical condition.
During the last 24 hours, 1,407 tests were carried out to detect the coronavirus, of which 1,283 with the PCR method and 124 through antigen rapid tests.
A total of 50 new coronavirus cases were reported. Since the outbreak of the pandemic 19,366 people have been infected with Covid-19.
