Following a break of two and a half months, high schools and lyceums opened this morning. Exceptions are high schools in the “red” areas, including Attica, where classes will continue with distance learning, int.ert.gr reports.
The opening of Secondary Schools is accompanied by preventive measures against the spread of the new coronavirus: mandatory use of masks indoors and outdoors, use of antiseptics, and regular ventilation of the premises.
Furthermore, the breaks are made in groups of students, while the groups of students in sports and other activities must be constant.
The Federation of Secondary Education Officials (OLME) has expressed its reservations about the opening of high schools and lyceums, stressing that the preventive measures and the way in which the school structures are expected to function are not sufficient.
OLME calls for immediate and free, mass and repeated Covid tests in schools for teachers and students and for teachers to be recruited and spaces and halls to be utilized, in order to dilute the student population in the classrooms.
