Strong firefighting forces are operating in the area of Gortynia and in the neighboring areas of the municipality of Ancient Olympia on Wednesday, the Fire Brigade said, ANA reports.
Seven firefighting aircraft including Beriev-200 and seven water-bombing helicopters were dousing the fire assisted by 181 fire engines with a 578-member crew, 30 teams of firefighters on foot including 14 fire engines with 35-member crew from the Czech Republic, 21 firemen from the UK, 38 fire engines with a 139-member crew from France and 18 fire engines with 57-member crew from Germany.
