The situation with the wildfire in Vilia is better on Wednesday, according to the Fire Brigade, while the fire in Lavreotiki is limited and without flame, ANA reports.
Nevertheless, firefighters are still fighting with resurgences.
The Fire Brigade told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) that the fire front in Vilia is worrying because it burns a forest towards Mount Patera and especially the area between Paleochori and Oinoi. However, there is no big flame since early in the morning, but dense smoke, which is indicative of the front being active. At the same time, there are many outbreaks scattered on the border of the burnt forest, as the perimeter of the fire extends for many kilometers, and efforts are made to deal with it by noon when strong winds are expected to begin blowing in the area.
