Vaccinations against Covid with updated vaccines begin in Greece on Wednesday

The online appointments booking platform for updated coronavirus vaccines opened on Monday, the head of Greece’s National Vaccination Committee said at a live briefing, according to ANA.

While bookings are available now, the actual vaccinations will begin on Wednesday, it was added.

The new vaccines are effective against Omicron mutations 1,2 and 5, pointed out committee head Maria Theodoridou.

The updated vaccines, by Pfizer and Moderna, can be administered to people aged 12 or over, but are intended only for a booster dose, after completing the initial vaccination (2 doses for healthy individuals and 3 for the immunocompromised), regardless of which vaccine was received. They are administered within three months after the last dose of any vaccine or a Covid infection.
