Greek citizenship was conferred upon Professor Kevin Featherstone at a special ceremony held at the Maximos Mansion, the residence of the Prime Minister of Greece.
The professor took the oath of Greek citizenship in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Secretary General of Citizenship of the Ministry of the Interior of the Hellenic Republic Athanasios Balerba.
Featherstone is a Professor of Modern Greek Studies, holder of the Eleftherios Venizelos Chair, and Professor of European Politics at the London School of Economics. He is also the Director of the Hellenic Observatory, which is internationally recognized as one of the leading centers of research on contemporary Greece and Cyprus. The Hellenic Observatory is part of the European Institute of the LSE.
Kevin Featherstone’s academic research focuses on the European Union and contemporary Greece in the fields of Comparative Politics, Public Policy, and Political Economy.
He was the first member of the National Research and Technology Council in Greece from 2010 to 2013.
In 2013 he was named Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by the President of the Hellenic Republic and in 2021 he was made Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix.
