Those who suffered damages as a result of the wildfires will be immediately compensated, while civil protection conditions “will constantly improve”, State Minister Makis Voridis said in an interview on Tuesday with ANT1 TV. Given the extent of the firefront and the very difficult conditions, he noted, there had been “mobilization and management of the situation,” ANA reports.
He also said a need for better supervision and highlighted the responsibilities of local authorities. “The major qualitative change after Mati is the emergency number 112,” Voridis added, stressing that “our priority is the protection of the human life.”
