Wildfire conditions at Mt. Parnitha, north of Athens, present a substantial improvement, the Fire Brigade announced on Thursday night, according to ANA.
Fire first broke out on Tuesday morning in the area of Fili, west of Athens, on Parnitha’s foothills, threatening the mountain’s national forest region.
Nevertheless, wildfires have rekindled at Iliki, in Boeotia’s Zaltsa area near the Hosios Loukas world heritage monastery – of which one building was burnt on Wednesday – and also at the villages of Stiri and Kyriaki at Distomo, also in Boeotia (Viotia). The Boeotia fires first broke out on Wednesday at Stiri.
