Greek civil servants confederation ADEDY to strike on May 21

The Confederation of Civil Servants (ADEDY) announced on Tuesday a 24-hour strike on May 21 over unmet labor demands, ANA reports.

In a statement, ADEDY said that the new strike is a follow-up on the successful strike of February 28. It added it will continue its fight “against high prices and the economic impoverishment of employees through the government’s policies.” It called on all civil servants to join its action en masse.

Among its demands are a 10% wage increase across the board for civil servants, collective work agreements on wages, increasing the tax exemption to 12,000 euros, and staffing immediately all critical public sectors such as health, education, social services, and social security.
