Preliminary meteorological data was analyzed by the scientific team at Meteo. gr and the National Observatory of Athens indicate that July 2024 was the hottest July ever recorded in Greece, ANA reports.
During July 2024, Greece experienced prolonged periods of exceptionally high temperatures, significantly surpassing seasonal norms across the country.
An analysis of average July temperatures from 1960 to 2024 indicates that July 2024 was the warmest on record for Greece, exceeding the 1991-2020 average by 2.9C and surpassing the previous record set in July 2012 by 0.3C.
Notably, the past four years have seen three of the four hottest Julys in at least the last 80 years for Greece.
