The Ionian University and the Chamber of Corfu are proceeding with a Memorandum of Cooperation with the aim of developing and implementing educational training and further education programs for the members of the Chamber, with the aim of strengthening their business activity, adapting them to the demands of the modern market and upgrading their knowledge and skills.
These programs will be developed in collaboration with the Center for Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of the Ionian University, based on the real needs of businesses in the region and the strategic axes of development of the local economy, and will be approved by the competent bodies of the two bodies.
The Ionian University’s KEDIVIM, as the institutional body of the Foundation for the provision of adult education and training programs, will undertake, in collaboration with the Corfu Chamber and the Ionian University’s Special Research Fund Account, the planning, organization and implementation of the educational activities.
The topics of the programs include, but are not limited to:
-Business Development and Digital Transformation. This module focuses on modern entrepreneurship techniques, strategic planning, innovation, utilization of digital tools, e-commerce, digital platforms, online marketing and basic cybersecurity principles.
-Human Resources Management and Leadership. It includes topics such as strengthening leadership skills, modern human resources management practices, effective communication and team management, as well as ways to attract and retain talent.
-Tourism and Customer Service. It focuses on improving the visitor experience, new trends in tourism, sustainable tourism practices,
customer service techniques, intercultural communication and the promotion of local identity as a means of competitive advantage.
This collaboration marks the beginning of a strategic relationship between the Corfu Chamber and KEDIVIM Ionian University, with the prospect of further development and deepening of actions, supporting the business fabric of the island.
Furthermore, it is envisaged that in the future specialized training programs may be designed for the staff of the Chamber’s member companies, in order to strengthen their operational and professional skills. Indicatively, the topics of these programs may include: Customer Service, Soft skills (communication, behavior, professionalism), Health and Safety at work, Complaints handling / crisis management, Use of technology / digital tools, Special tourism and catering issues, Staff training in tourism services.
Through this targeted and constantly evolving cooperation, the aim is to create a learning and development ecosystem that will strengthen the human resources of the local business community and will contribute substantially to the qualitative upgrade of the services provided in Corfu.
The President of the Corfu Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Costas Mouzakitis, and the Rector of the Ionian University, Mr. Andreas Floros, played an important role in reaching the agreement.
