In a period of intense publications regarding the Church of Crete, the Holy Eparchial Synod issued a statement, clarifying its position and responding to allegations linking it to illegal acts regarding the Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Tzagarol in Chania, a case that has already concerned the judicial authorities.
In its statement, the Synod expresses its sorrow for the events that have come to light and points out that it had already taken legal action since November 2023, submitting a complete file to the Prosecutor of First Instance of Chania.
Preservation of property
The Church of Crete declares full confidence in Justice and awaits its decisions in order to proceed with its own actions. At the same time, it clarifies that it will not succumb to pressure or compromises regarding the preservation of the monastery property, emphasizing that its struggle for its preservation is non-negotiable and in accordance with the law.
Commitment to the Ecumenical Patriarchate
The Synod reiterates its full commitment to the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the ecclesiastical regime of Crete, emphasizing that it will not consent to any attempt to alter its identity.
