ATHENS DEVELOPMENT SOCIETE ANONYME – LOCAL GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION of the municipality of Athens is planning an Extraordinary General Assembly to complete the company’s objectives in order to formally operate as a Destination Management and Promotion Organization (DMMO).
The Extraordinary General Assembly is expected, barring unforeseen circumstances, to be convened on February 12, while in the event of a quorum not being reached, on February 25.
The Development Organization already operates with the characteristics of a Destination Management and Promotion Organization (DMMO) and collaborates, through the conclusion of quality agreements and memorandums of understanding, with professional associations of individuals, businesses and private sector entities, as well as with clusters, with the aim of ensuring the quality of the offered tourism product through co-advertising, financing of studies, management and promotion of the destination domestically and internationally.
The Destination Management and Promotion Organization may, in particular, collaborate with specialized tourism organizations, tour operators, and airlines for the implementation of co-advertising programs. The Destination Management and Promotion Organization may also establish a local or regional Sustainable Tourism Development Observatory, following the model of the Tourism Observatory of the Ministry of Tourism, with the aim of studying the tourism market and presenting findings, as well as proposing targeted development measures in its region of responsibility, for the promotion of all the thematic units of the domestic tourism product.
In this context, the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Development Organization of the Municipality of Athens will discuss the addition of the following purposes to the company’s Articles of Association:
-the scientific, advisory, and technical support of the relevant local government organization (LGO) on issues of promotion and promotion of a destination in the tourism market,
-the promotion and objective information of the relevant LGO for the entire tourism product for each destination, such as attractions, accessibility-transportation, facilities-accommodation, tourist services, activities, auxiliary services,
-the creation, support, and implementation of the development and tourism policy of the destination,
-the study and monitoring of the upgrading and modernization of infrastructure and public services,
-the preparation and implementation of a strategic plan for sustainable tourism development and management of the destination,
-the conclusion of contracts with private sector entities with the aim of promoting the destination as a tourist destination,
-the preparation of studies for the creation of standards for highlighting the identity of the destination,
-the design and implementation of the destination’s marketing and tourism promotion strategy,
-the creation and management of local quality brands, as well as technical assistance and support to clusters related to the production and promotion of local tourist products and services,
-the development of a research project on important issues of tourism, such as market analysis, approaching new markets including the accessible tourism market, maturing infrastructure projects, and implementing social cohesion, digital convergence, and sustainable development policies,
-the development of the destination’s tourism products,
-the conclusion of quality agreements and memorandums of understanding with professional associations of individuals, businesses, and private sector entities, as well as with business clusters, with the aim of ensuring the quality of the offered tourism product through co-advertising, financing of studies, management and promotion of the destination domestically and internationally,
-cooperation with specialized tourism organizations, tour operators, and airlines for the implementation of co-advertising programs,
-the establishment of a local or regional Sustainable Tourism Development Observatory (Observatory), following the model of the Ministry’s Tourism Observatory Tourism of Article 18 of law 4179/2013 (A’ 175), with the aim of studying the tourism market and presenting findings, as well as proposing targeted development measures in the region of its responsibility, for the promotion of all the thematic units of the domestic tourism product in accordance with the provisions of article 8 of law 4875/2021.
