Εcofin: Recovery fund absorption rate to reach 64% by Greece

The absorption rate is expected to reach 64% following the approval of the Recovery Fund revision by Ecofin in Brussels, during a meeting attended by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, ANA reports.

Specifically, during the Ecofin meeting, the ministers approved the revised national plans submitted by Greece, Cyprus, and Spain under the Recovery Fund. The revision of the Greek plan includes:

-The “My House II” (To spiti mou II) program for the purchase of first homes, with a subsidized interest rate.
– The “ Upgrade My House” program for the energy upgrade of houses.
– The program to finance 37,000 evening surgeries to reduce waiting times in the country’s hospitals.
-Minor modifications to the description of certain actions and milestones in the 5th payment request, submitted by Greece on 20 December.

This request concerns the disbursement of 3.13 billion euros (1.35 billion euros from grants and 1.78 billion euros from loans). Upon successful completion of the process, which is expected in the near future, total disbursements to Greece will now amount to 21.3 billion euros, representing 64% of its total allocation.

“There are two pieces of positive news for Greece from the Ecofin meeting. The approval of Greece’s Medium-Term Fiscal-Structural Plan confirms once again that our economy is treated with confidence in Brussels. Our country, proceeding with fiscal prudence and pro-investment policy, has all the prerequisites to climb even higher. The approval of the amendments to the recovery fund allows programs such as “ My House II,” for which we have negotiated hard, to proceed with speed. While in a very short time, the absorption of the recovery fund will have reached 64%,” Hatzidakis said.
