The Libraries of the Municipality of Chania are more “alive” and more active than ever, according to the statistical data for the year 2024, after registering thousands of readers, hundreds of new members, and dozens of reading activities for young and old.
The Libraries of the Municipality of Chania, which consist of the Municipal Library of Chania, the Children’s – -Adolescent Library of the Municipal Garden, the Children’s – -Adolescent Library of Souda, and the Stalos Library, consistently offer the reading public services that are constantly evolving, bringing events and collaborations that upgrade the reading level in the Municipality of Chania.
Specifically, the Municipal Libraries of Chania managed to attract 1,062 new members, while the total number of users – readers who used them approached the impressive number of 31,900 people, who in total borrowed 28,870 books, magazines, as well as audiovisual material (CDS-DVDs). An important aspect of the activity of the Libraries of the Municipality of Chania is educational activities, school visits, and reading activities, with the number of visits to school departments and activities amounting to 156, which brought more than 11,000 children to the Libraries.
