On April 11, Bucharest, Romania, will host the important B2B workshop Tourism Open Days, which will be a meeting point for travel agents and journalists.
The Municipality of Alexandroupolis will also participate in the event, in order to showcase its tourism advantages and consolidate the city’s position as an attractive destination for Romanian tourists.
According to the municipality, with Romania’s full integration into the Schengen Area as of January 1, 2025, new expectations are being created for an increase in the tourist flow from the neighboring country to Greece. This development makes it even more necessary to intensify the presence of Greek destinations in the Romanian market in order to fully exploit the potential for tourism development.
Alexandroupolis is called upon to compete with both neighboring destinations and other tourist areas, both within and outside Greece, with the aim of increasing the number of visitors, expanding the average number of overnight stays, as well as changing and enriching the profile of its visitors. At the same time, the city is turning its attention to alternative tourism resources, focusing on activities such as nature, hiking, and pilgrimage tourism, with the aim of extending the tourist season and increasing the economic benefits for the region.
Participation in the Tourism Open Days event is part of the strategy of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis to strengthen extroversion and promote its tourism resources in the Romanian market. Through this participation, the municipality seeks to develop partnerships that will enhance the “classic” tourist season while at the same time contributing to the extension of the tourist season and contributing to the economic development of the region.
Alexandroupolis: An Attractive Destination All Year Round
Alexandroupolis, with its strategic location in eastern Macedonia, is a city that has much to offer its visitors throughout the year. In addition to its beautiful beaches, the region has natural resources and cultural monuments that make it an ideal destination for alternative forms of tourism. The integration of the city into the wider tourist map of Romania and the strengthening of partnerships with Romanian tour operators are expected to bring significant benefits to the local economy.
Alexandroupolis, with its combination of traditional hospitality and modern infrastructure, is ready to welcome visitors of all types and interests, from nature and adventure lovers to culture and history lovers. Especially with the new momentum brought by Romania’s accession to the Schengen zone, Alexandroupolis has a unique opportunity to emerge as a destination that will attract more visitors, making the city an excellent choice for travel all year round.
