The municipality of Samothrace decided to participate in the program, highlighting the cultural value of historical sites and solutions for creating digital museums and routes, which is part of the program of a more comprehensive cross-border region between Greece and Bulgaria.
Historical sites are key points of reference for society, which is based on the rich past they host. In this context, the project focuses on the design and implementation of advanced technological solutions that will highlight, preserve, and promote these cultural treasures.
At the same time, the digital representation of historical sites allows every visitor, regardless of their location, to delve into an amazing cultural experience.
In this direction, the project is expected to offer integrated and specialized solutions that combine the strengthening of historical sites with digital technology, education, and access to new dimensions of cultural heritage. The aim is to create an innovative proposal that reflects the dedication to quality and innovation, thus contributing to the continuous promotion and preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.
What does the project include
Among other things, the project concerns the creation of digital actions, such as the virtual museum, which functions as a central point of reference and source of comprehensive cultural information and promotion on the internet, ensuring the promotion and continuity of the cultural heritage of a region, as well as the creation of a digital tour guide, through which the visitor will have access to thematic audio tours related to the exhibits, offering a rich auditory experience. The creation of a historical-interactive map is also planned. This map can focus on important landmarks associated with the historical site, thus constructing various levels. Each level presents specific information, giving the user a comprehensive picture of the historical wealth of the area.
At the same time, the visitor is given the opportunity to browse the content of the museum and the historical site, taking advantage of its chronological, semantic, and geographical marking and categorization
Within the framework of the project, tourist trails and routes will also be created that are expected to offer an innovative and interactive experience to visitors. These include the recording and highlighting of the historical and cultural monuments of the areas with the aim of tourist development, the promotion of theater and folk events as a tool for highlighting the common cultural heritage, the reconstruction of cultural sites, and the production of tourist promotion material.
In addition to enhancing culture, the above applications also significantly enhance tourism as they offer an innovative and interactive experience to visitors. These innovative technological applications allow visitors to explore and understand more deeply the historical and cultural richness of tourist destinations.
Finally, exploration through technological applications adds an additional entertaining and educational dimension to the visit, offering tourists a more comprehensive and memorable experience. Visitors have the opportunity to interact with the surrounding space, explore rich historical material, and understand the significance of local attractions.
