The sealing of stores for exceeding public space continues

The Municipality of Athens continues unabated with its operations to control and impose sanctions for the arbitrary use of public spaces, within the framework of the implementation of the new regulatory decision and the policy of recovering public space for the benefit of citizens.

From Wednesday, July 16 to Saturday, July 19, 2025, Municipal Police teams carried out 45 inspections at Health Care Establishments. In detail:

16 in Kolonaki, on Friday, July 18,
10 in Gazi, on Saturday, July 19.
In addition, on Friday, July 18, seven Health Care Establishments were temporarily sealed due to the unauthorized occupation of public space that had been detected in previous inspections: Two are located in the commercial triangle, one on Aristotelous Street, three in Neos Kosmos and one in Mavili Square. For Friday, August 1, 2025, the temporary sealing of an additional sixteen establishments has already been scheduled: Two in Kolonaki, ten in the wider area of Kypseli (of which five are on the pedestrian street of Fokionos Negri), two near the Ippokrateio Hospital, one in Ampelokipi and one near Mavili Square.

The violations concern exceeding the permitted occupancy dimensions, in violation of the permit that has been granted, and are dealt with by the sanctions provided for, in accordance with the new regulatory framework in force from 2 June 2025.

These actions are part of the overall strategy of the Municipality of Athens to restore the functionality of public space, ensure accessibility and its equal use by all citizens. The controls will continue intensively throughout the summer, in all Municipal Communities.
