The newly established Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Pyrgos held its first meeting a few days ago, marking the start of a new, coordinated effort for the tourism development and promotion of the area.
The meeting took place at the Latsio City Hall and was held with the participation of elected officials, institutional and productive bodies, in the context of upgrading tourism on the municipal agenda. It was of an advisory nature and is part of the initiatives launched after the appointment of Alekos Galanopoulos as Deputy Mayor for Tourism.
The committee’s goal is to function as a channel for communication, exchange of ideas and the formulation of joint actions, for the promotion of Pyrgos as an attractive, sustainable and quality tourist destination.
As it was emphasized, synergies are crucial for the success of the effort, such as the active participation of tourism professionals, local bodies, and the local community itself.
Also present at the meeting was the company Wise Ram through its representative Spyros Pegas, which in collaboration with the Municipal Port Fund of Pyrgos is preparing a study for the establishment of a Strategic Tourism Development Plan (Action Plan). The first findings of the study were presented and a constructive dialogue followed with proposals for further actions to promote the area.
Mr. Galanopoulos, concluding the meeting, committed to the regular and institutional operation of the Committee, focusing on a visible and measurable project.
The establishment of the Tourist Committee reflects the intention of the municipal authority to invest in the strategic tourist identity of Pyrgos, with a vision, a plan and the participation of the local community, always in accordance with the municipality.
