City often means skyscrapers, noise and rush. And yet, there are metropolises that manage to offer something different: an experience of relaxation and balance. According to research by the international eSIM company Holafly, presented by Condé Nast Traveller, five cities stood out worldwide for 2025 as the most “relaxing” destinations, based on air quality, access to parks and nature reserves, wellness centers, hours of sunshine and levels of happiness of residents.
In fifth place is Melbourne, which in addition to the title of “most liveable city” in the past, currently stands out for its gastronomic scene, 215 parks and over 2,300 hours of sunshine. Sydney is next, where residents start their day by surfing and jogging on the coast; the city has 239 parks and almost 2,500 hours of sunshine a year.
Vienna rises to third place, thanks to its cultural richness and excellent air quality, with more than 100 museums and galleries. Singapore, in second place, confirms its title of “Garden City” with 242 parks, almost 700 spas and wellness centers and aspires to become even greener by 2030.
San Diego in California takes the top spot. With 266 parks and nature reserves, 359 wellness centers and beaches that invite relaxation and activities in nature, the city embodies the Californian philosophy of living in the countryside. From Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve to San Onofre State Beach, relaxation here is a way of life.
As Condé Nast Traveler notes, relaxation is no longer the preserve of secluded destinations, as in 2025, some of the world’s most vibrant cities are proving they can become the ultimate wellness haven.
