“The data shows that Madrid has now established itself as a summer destination, with the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil reinforcing its image as a quality choice,” stressed the Deputy Mayor responsible for Tourism, Almudena Maio.

Airport and international conferences

Barajas Airport welcomed 6.17 million passengers in July, an all-time record. At the same time, Madrid is strengthening its footprint in the field of conference tourism, hosting from August 29 to September 1 more than 26,000 delegates at the World Congress of Cardiology and the Congress of the European Society of Cardiology.

With American markets taking the lead, arrivals breaking records and employment strengthening, Madrid is establishing itself as one of the leading European summer metropolises.
