Travel Trade Athens to take place from October 2-3 2016

The fourth edition of Travel Trade Athens, the City of Athens’ event to promote itself to the global market, will take place from October 2-3, 2016.

The newest edition of the event is set to welcome more than 85 representatives of tour operators, travel agents, convention and event organisers. Furthrmore, distinguished journalists from the US and the European MICE tourism field will be present.

The Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) is organising the event, through the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and in cooperation with the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) with the goal of developing cooperation between Greece’s travel industry stakeholders and the global tourism industry.

Giorgos Kaminis, Mayor of Athens, commented on occasion: “Promoting Athens is one of our main priorities. Travel Trade Athens has evolved into an institution of Athens’ tourism and a point of business relations development and cooperation. This year especially, by putting special emphasis on convention tourism, we are planning to host a large number of organised conventions as well as journalists that deal with convention tourism.”

Targeted promotion

The event was launched in 2013 as part of The City of Athens strategy for targeted promotion of the destination to the international tourism market and for the immediate informing of foreign stakeholders for the services offered.

Since then, more than 6,000 meetings between hosted buyers and businesses of the Athens Metropolis and Greece in General have been held, while more than 200 buyers were hosted from 29 countries.

The registration process of the show can be completed electronically through the designated website and interested parties can register until May 31, 2016.

The event’s package includes: Three days hospitality for foreign professionals and arranging tours of the city; pre-arranged rotation meetings with a guaranteed minimum appointments; arranging special informative and educational modules; and opportunities to network during events.
