Greek main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the ‘documenta 14’ art exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) on Thursday.
After viewing the exhibition, which is being organized in both Athens and the German city of Kassel for the first time this year, Mitsotakis said it was possibly the most important exhibition of contemporary art and a great success that it was being hosted in Athens. Some 300,000 visitors had seen the documenta 14 exhibition in Athens, he pointed out, putting Greece’s capital on the world map for contemporary art.
“Using this opportunity, I would like to stress how important it is to complete as quickly as possible all the procedures that will allow the EMST to open its doors and display its permanent collection. After many delays the building is almost ready and all sides must work together so that there are no more delays,” Mitsotakis noted, stressing that the EMST had an important permanent collection that must open to the public after the documenta exhibition is finished.
