The Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens has announced that in the coming June, in the context of its contemporary art program, it will be hosting an exhibition featuring the work of George Condo. «George Condo at Cycladic» will be the first solo exhibition introducing the American artist’s work in Greece.
The exhibition will include paintings, sketches and sculptures spanning the 40-year career of this exceptional artist, who along with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Jeff Koons was an important contributing factor in the revival of representational painting in 1980s America. Condo continues to enjoy acclaim as one of the foremost American sculptors and representational painters to this day.
Running from June 8 to October and curated by Atalanti Martinou, «George Condo at Cycladic» will not be a chronology of the artist’s work so much as means to highlight some of his works that are most closely related to the Museum’s central notion of the human figure.
