Award-winning music lineup set for National Hellenic Museum gala on May 12

The National Hellenic Museum (NHM) has unveiled its entertainment lineup for its Annual Gala — ‘Connecting Generations — on Saturday, May 12, at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.

WGN-TV’s Emmy Award-winning entertainment reporter and critic Dean Richards will be MC and gala-goers will be entertained by the sounds of the Chris Sarlas Orchestra featuring George Dimas and Voula Karahaliou.

The award winning orchestra includes Chicago’s most sought-after and accomplished musicians. With exceptional four-part vocal harmonies, sizzling horns, a driving rhythm section, and a diverse Greek/American repertoire, guest will be ready to dance the night away.

Also playing will be The Levendes featuring Nikos Koutras. They give a unique flair to traditional and contemporary Greek music with a large repertoire of dimotika, nisiotika, rebetika, and modern laika.

Nikos Koutras is a well-known Greek singer in the New York City area. He moved from Greece in 1999 and has performed in many Greek clubs in the U.S on top of touring in Europe.

National Hellenic Museum’s night of festivities and philanthropy

The NHM Gala has always been a significant opportunity for hundreds of Greek Americans and friends from across the country to gather together for a night of festivities and philanthropy.

Philanthropic support from NHM Gala 2018 will benefit the dozens of thousands of people — children and adults — who visit the National Hellenic Museum every year through field trips, tours and dynamic cultural and historical programs.

The museum preserves the biggest collection of artifacts and oral histories dedicated to the Greek-American story anywhere in the world.

Individual NHM Gala tickets are $350 and tables of 10 are $3,200. To buy tickets or inquire about sponsorship opportunities, visit www.nationalhellenicmuseum.org/gala or call 312-655-1234 x28.
