National Hellenic Society Conference focuses on the future of Hellenism (videos)

Greek entrepreneurs John Calamos and Dean Metropoulos were honored at the National Hellenic Society’s (NHS) Heritage Weekend in Las Vegas, during a conference that attracted hundreds of prominent Greek Americans.

The co-honorees received the George Marcus Excellence Award in recognition of their outstanding leadership and dedication in lifting and passing on Hellenism’s torch to the next generation.

The Award was offered during an activities-packed weekend where participants listened to compelling panelists discussing diverse issues affecting Hellenism worldwide, from geopolitics and tourism, to archaeology and Greek dance.

NHS was established to assist preserve the Greek heritage through the sponsorship and initiation of programs that support Hellenic culture.

Four exceptional Greek-American entrepreneurs, Dean Metropoulos, John Calamos, Dennis Mehiel and Alexander Zagoreos participated at the “Deal-makers” panel.

Greek-American entrepreneur, philanthropist and Vietnam veteran John Calamos talked exclusively to Greek Reporter about how his Greek heritage has influenced him and why he is so passionately promoting Hellenism in the US and abroad.

Prominent Greek American businessman Dennis Mehiel joined by banker Jason Ioannides and communications expert Stacy Dimakakos discussing opportunities for youth today, US politics, and being Greek American, during the National Hellenic Society heritage weekend in Las Vegas.

Two of the most influential proponents of Greek education in the United States, Drake G Behrakis and Maria Exarhopoulos Behrakis discussed the future of Hellenism.
