On Thursday, November 15 the National Hellenic Museum will hold its annual lecture in celebration of World Philosophy Day, 2018, according to greekreporter.com.
The speech, by Dr. Thomas Noel, will be part of the Dr. Arthur G. Nikelly Annual Lectures for the Preservation of Hellenic Heritage and Culture and will be held at the National Hellenic Museum from 6 pm to 7 pm.
Dr. Noel has a Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, an MA degree with a specialization in education and English literature, and BA degrees in psychology and African American Studies from Rutgers University. His career in public education has inspired him to conduct independent research and explore different education-based topics.
The lecture explores Plato’s ideas presented in “The Republic” and seeks to determine if the ideas were presented as a utopia, a detached philosophical reflection, or as a concrete vision; and how they impact modern day society, especially, the U.S. education system and its policies.
