Greek-Swedish Antique special anniversary reunion concert for one night only

For the first time in 16 years, the dynamic Swedish-Greek duo Antique, Helena Paparizou and Nikos Panagiotidis will perform together on stage on Saturday 13th July 2019, in Gothenburg, Sweden, greekcitytimes.com reports.

The performance after so many years marks the 20th anniversary of Antique, which began in 1999 and has enjoyed a huge pan-European success.

Prior to the split in 2003, Antique represented Greece at the Song Contest and released numerous songs that we all love listening to including “Opa Opa”, “Follow Me”, “Die For You”, “Dinata Dinata”, “Se thelo”and many more.

Following their split, Helena perused a solo music career which has been very successful, as she is considered one of the most loved Greek female singers and songwriters today.

Helena also retuned to the Eurovision stage in 2005 with the song “My Number One” and made history for Greece, taking out the number one spot in the Eurovision Contest and becoming the first Greek singer to win the prize.

In spite of the duo’s dissolution and their busy schedules, Helena and Nikos are still very good friends and decided to mark the special occasion by coming together for a one off unique concert, performing at the Swedish music festival ‘Vi som älskar 90 talet’ (“Who loves the 90s”).

As Helena told Aftonbladet, the performance was an opportunity she couldn’t refuse. “It felt so obvious that we had to do it. We broke through in the late 90’s with Antique and I really love the 90’s. In addition, it will be so fun to meet old friends we played with then,” she added.
