This year’s International Classical Music Festival of the Cyclades began in Hermoupolis, on Syros Island on August 10 and will continue through August 17, according to greekreporter.com.
Hermoupolis is also the capital city of the Cyclades island archipelago.
For more than 15 years now every summer, Syros becomes the center of global classical music”, according to the Festival organizers.
The website for the event notes that it attracts hundreds of soloists and ensembles, ”providing the solid ground for international chamber music creativity, and presenting master classes and concerts to a wide audience from all over the world.”
Reviving the European musical traditions of the 19th century, the Syros Festival offers a uniquely Greek summer experience for those who aspire to classical music.
The festival has seen such success because it combines culture, music and of course, opportunities for luxurious summer relaxation within a setting of rare beauty on this Greek island.
Among this year’s performances, the audience will be able to enjoy classical masterpieces from composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Handel and Purcell.
The Festival is held at the Apollon Theater, on Vardaka Square in Hermoupoli.
