Footage has emerged of the full moon illuminating the waters by Koroni castle on August 15, greekcitytimes.com reports.

The Koroni castle, constructed on the ruins of the ancient Messenian town of Asine, is one of the finest examples of the Venetian fortress architecture. It was built by the Venetians in the 13th century and revamped by the Ottomans in the 16th.

The most significant monuments of the site are the Byzantine Castle, the Byzantine church of Aghia Sophia, the Church of St. Charalambos and the Church of Panaghia Eleistria.
