The 30th Kalamata Dance Festival will be held in the southern Greek city from July 12 to 21, organizers announced on Wednesday, ANA reports.
The annual festival will include 19 productions, 10 troupes from Greece, and 9 from abroad. The educational section of the festival will be held between July 5 and 21. Stages include the Dance Hall of Kalamata, public space, and premises in Tripolis, Pylos, and Nafplion, in collaboration with local agencies. Performers from abroad will be coming from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Serbia, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, and Mozambique.
Among the new performers will be the State Ballet of Hessen (Hessisches Staatsballett) in its first-ever performance in Greece, while the works performed will be by choreographers Marco Goecke and Imre & Marne van Opstal, as well as by Botis Seva and Josef Nadj, both of whom will be performing on the stage.
The press conference was organized at the Museum of Cycladic Art in the presence of Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, Deputy Culture Minister responsible for Modern Cultural issue Christos Dimas, Kalamata Mayor Thanassis Vassilopoulos, and Peloponnese Region Governor Dimitris Ptochos. Speaking at the press conference were among others former directors of the festival.
