Title “The Art of Drystone: The Human Border between Nature and Culture”, a three-day conference dedicated to one of the oldest and most sustainable building techniques, will be held in Anogia from June 13 to 15, 2025.
The thematic sections of the conference explore the complex relationship between man and stone, highlighting the timeless value of drystone constructions and their contribution to the sustainability and cultural identity of the countryside. Among other things, questions and good practices will be put on the table regarding issues such as:
- Dry stone as a tool for sustainable development
- Geology, architecture, and stone as carriers of culture
- The reuse of dry stone in the modern landscape
- From ancient mitata to their digital footprint
The conference is implemented by the Ideion Network, within the framework of the project “Information and awareness-raising actions for the promotion and protection of the Mitata of Psiloritis and the traditional technique of dry stone constructions”, integrated into the CLLD-LEADER program of AKOMM-PSILORITIS SA Local Government. It is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Anogeia and the organizational support of the cultural organization Androidus – Argastiri.
