Conference on the primary sector and local products in Kalavrita

On June 7, a conference entitled “Primary sector and local products in Kalavrita: Aiming at the economic development and extroversion of the region” is scheduled to take place at the Kalavrita Multipurpose Cultural Center. The organization has been undertaken by the Pankalavrytini Union – Kalavrita Branch and the newspaper “Ora ton Kalavrita”, with the co-organization of the Region of Western Greece.

As indicated by the organizers, the conference is part of a broader effort to highlight actions that contribute to the development of the local economy, the strengthening of extroversion, and the promotion of the region. Particular emphasis is placed on highlighting the primary sector and local products as fundamental factors of sustainable development.

During the event, representatives of the local government, entrepreneurs in the region, and academics are expected to participate, who will present data, strategies, and good practices concerning local production and entrepreneurship. The focus will be on issues such as the international presence of local products, the role of gastronomy in the tourist identity of the region, and the possibilities of strengthening gastronomic and wine tourism through the combination of production and cultural promotion.

The Region of Western Greece, according to the Action Plan it has prepared, sets as its main strategic objectives the improvement of the competitiveness of agri-food products and the establishment of a comprehensive package of local products, capable of being promoted in domestic and foreign markets, strengthening the economic potential of the region.

In the same context, particular emphasis is placed on the public dialogue related to the agri-food sector, with references to modern policies and technologies, such as the Common Agricultural Policy, Rural Development Programs, digital applications, and artificial intelligence tools. As noted by the Region, agricultural production is a crucial factor for social cohesion and development prospects, while a new approach is required that incorporates innovation and environmental respect.

The upcoming conference, as emphasized by the organizations, is directly linked to the strategic objectives of the Region and aspires to be a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and promotion of Kalavryta as a region with a rich, productive, and cultural reserve. By strengthening local entrepreneurship and systematically highlighting its gastronomic identity, the region hopes to upgrade its position on the tourist map and attract further investments.
