Preparations for the international ski mountaineering competition Pierra Creta have already begun in view of the event that will take place on March 6, 7, and 8, 2026, on the imposing Psiloritis.
The ski mountaineering event that has impressed and conquered athletes and spectators from all over the world has been prepared since this summer with the support of the Region of Crete and the Municipalities of the region.

Today, a meeting was held at the office of the Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, with Maria Vassiliou, member of the Organizing Committee, and Nikiforos Steiakakis, President of the AMKE “The Black Sheep”, the body responsible for the organization (photo).
During the meeting, the objectives and prospects of this year’s event were discussed, which focuses on further strengthening winter tourism, expanding the tourism product, and promoting Crete internationally as a destination for alternative tourism and sports activities.
Stavros Arnaoutakis reiterated the firm commitment of the Region of Crete to support initiatives that highlight the island’s natural wealth and enhance Crete’s extroversion, emphasizing that Pierra Creta is an event with a unique character, combining sports, culture, and love for the unique natural environment and tradition of Crete.
