Full Moon Evenings in Kassandra: Art meets moonlight

A new, unique event section enriches the Kassandra Festival program this year, inviting the audience to a unique cultural experience under the light of the full moon. The “Full Moon Evenings in Kassandra” focus on highlighting the archaeological and historical sites of Halkidiki through a special artistic lens, giving the audience the opportunity to enjoy music and dance in settings that rarely combine natural landscape and culture in such harmony.

These are three cultural evenings that stand out from the usual summer events, such as concerts in amphitheaters or traditional festivals, offering more lyrical and spiritual musical experiences. Jazz, classical, and art music become the means for the viewer to connect with the deeper cultural background of the place.

The opening ceremony will take place on July 10 in Afitos, on the magnificent hill of Koutsomylos, where the distinguished cellist Miltiadis Katsaras will join the dancers Giorgos Papadopoulos and Alexia Papadopoulos in a harmonious combination of classical music and contemporary dance. This evening promises to be unforgettable, as the art unfolds in a landscape that enchants and inspires.

On August 9, at the archaeological site of Kallithea, the audience will enjoy the musical performance of “Les Lyristes”. With composition and musical direction by Nikos Xanthoulis, who plays the lyra and barbito, and the participation of Evangelia Kopsalidou, as well as singer Sofia Karakouta and dancers from the “Choroekfrasi” and “Fouetté” schools, the evening will combine traditional instruments, contemporary music, and dance in a magical setting against the backdrop of the full moon.

The series concludes on September 8 in Nea Fokaia with a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis. A full moon evening that honors the great Greek creator through works that shaped the cultural identity of Greece, offering the audience a deep, moving experience where music, history, and the natural landscape come together in absolute harmony.
