An event to present the destination Ioannina with an emphasis on the city’s culture and gastronomy will be held in Heraklion by the Tourism Office of the Municipality of Ioannina, as part of the municipality’s mission to Crete (September 29 – October 3, 2025) for the needs of the strategic program “City Diplomacy”.
The event, during which Ioannina will be presented as a four-season destination, will take place on Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 PM at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Municipal Gallery of Heraklion. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen relations between the two regions, explore collaborations, and highlight the cultural and gastronomic potential of Ioannina.
The municipality of Ioannina extended a relevant invitation to the president of the Association of Tourist and Travel Agencies of Crete (ACCTA), Michalis Vlatakis, as within the framework of the mission’s objective of cooperation and acquaintance with the members of the tourist agencies of Crete, it will be sought after the end of the speeches, to hold organized B2B meetings if there is interest from the members of the Association.
The mission will be represented by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Ioannina, a representative of the Ioannina Hoteliers’ Association, as well as by selected tourism professionals in the region.
Its presence in Crete will be for several days, with stops in both Heraklion (September 30) and Agios Nikolaos (October 3), “an event that demonstrates the deep appreciation and special interest of the Municipality of Ioannina in cultivating strategic cooperative relations with the local community, tourism and the productive bodies of Crete,” as the municipality points out.
