The “NASA Space Apps Challenge” returns to Thessaloniki

The “NASA Space Apps Challenge” returns to Thessaloniki for the 8th consecutive year, inviting scientists, engineers, programmers, designers, artists and technology enthusiasts to collaborate in teams, utilizing the open data of NASA and other space organizations. In fact, this will be held over the three-day period of September 26-28, at the conference room of the Regional Council of Central Macedonia (26th October 64, Thessaloniki – New Conference Center of the Regional Council of Central Macedonia).

This year’s slogan “Learn, Launch, Lead” inspires participants to develop new skills, dare innovative ideas and lead in creating solutions for global challenges, such as climate change, space exploration and artificial intelligence.

“The Region of Central Macedonia strongly supports initiatives that give our young people the opportunity to create, collaborate and showcase their talent at an international level. The ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge’ is not just a competition, but an experience that connects Thessaloniki with the global community of innovation and technology. We are proud that our city is hosting this great event again,” said Nikos Tzollas, Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance, in a statement.

For his part, the local coordinator of the event, Christos Letsios, emphasized: “We are excited to once again welcome the ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge’ to Thessaloniki. Our city has shown incredible talent and passion for space technology over the years. This year, participants will have the opportunity to tackle challenges in topics such as climate change, space exploration and artificial intelligence. We invite everyone – students, researchers and anyone who wants to get to know the world of aerospace through the development of ideas and applications – to become part of this unique experience.”

Greek NewSpace Society President Argyro Tsilia added: “The ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge’ is not just a competition. It is a global celebration of innovation and collaboration, but also the inspiration for the creation of our Society. At Greek NewSpace Society, our goal is to create opportunities for the new generation to develop their skills and network with professionals in the field. Thessaloniki has established itself as an important center of innovation and we are very proud to be part of this dynamic.”
