The 53rd International FILPA Rally concluded last Sunday in Volos, leaving behind not only racing memories, but also a travel experience that embraced nature, tradition and the hospitality of Greece.
The curtain rose in Kamena Vourla, with the crews starting their route through the rains of Central Greece. Along the way, the participants from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Belgium discovered picturesque settlements, seaside corners and lush green routes that reminded us that autumn in Greece is a season full of colors and changes. Stops in villages such as Amaliapoli, Agia Kyriaki and Vyzitsa brought the drivers closer to local life, with traditional flavors, smiles from the locals and small pieces of culture becoming part of the route.
Volos was the center of the event. With the port hosting the start and finish, the city offered visitors its own pleasures: walks on the beach, images of Pelion dominating the background and of course the tsipouro restaurants that give the place its gastronomic identity. Accommodation at the five-star Valis Resort in Agria added comfort and luxury, with the award dinner closing the experience in a festive atmosphere.
The rally, of course, was not just about speed and precision. It was a journey of experiences, where the participants of the Touring category were invited to test their knowledge of history, mythology and the world of the car, giving driving a dimension of cultural tourism. On the other hand, the Regularity category offered adrenaline lovers special precision routes, with the support of satellite timing.
In the end, what remains are not only the results – the winners and the rankings – but the entire journey: driving on roads that highlight the Greek land, the hospitality of the local communities, the images of an autumn full of contrasts and the joy of participation. The 53rd International PHILPA Rally proved once again that historic cars are not just period vehicles, but living narrators of a lifestyle that marries the passion for movement with the beauty of discovery.
