With excellent impressions and warm thanks from all participating parties, the 91st HOTREC (Hotels, Restaurants & Cafés in Europe) General Assembly, hosted by the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (PASYXE) from 15 to 17 October 2025, concluded in Paphos.
The autumn General Assembly of HOTREC, the pan-European hospitality umbrella, was held in Cyprus at a time of high institutional symbolism, in view of the imminent assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by the Republic of Cyprus on 1 January 2026.
In a letter of thanks sent by the HOTREC Management to the President of PASYXE, Mr. Thanos Michaelides, and the General Director of the Association, Mr. Christos Angelides, deep appreciation is expressed for the exemplary organization, the excellent hospitality and the excellent preparation of all the work. As it is characteristically stated:
“We all felt welcome and at home in sunny Paphos! We could not have been in better hands. Through the exchange of views, we were able to determine the priorities of the sector in view of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by Cyprus, on January 1, 2026.”
It was a great honor to have the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, as well as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, and other senior officials present, who underlined the importance of hospitality and tourism for the Cypriot economy, as well as the country’s determination to play an active role in European tourism policy.
An important reference point of the event was the presentation of the Gaspart Bonet Foundation Award by HOTREC to the Honorary President of PASYXE, Mr. Haris Loizides, for his long-term and decisive contribution to the development and stabilization of Cypriot tourism during his twenty-year tenure at PASYXE.
During his speech at the Gala Dinner, Mr. Loizides expressed his deep gratitude to HOTREC and its President, Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, as well as to all the members and executives of PASYXE. He underlined that this honor “belongs to all those who have consistently served the Association, because every achievement is the result of collective effort and shared commitment.”
PASYXE expresses its warm thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the Assembly – HOTREC members, partners and sponsors, the organizing team, as well as all staff and support teams, and renews its commitment to actively participate in the European dialogue for a sustainable and resilient future for hospitality and tourism.
The admittedly successful organization of the HOTREC General Assembly in Cyprus is a source of pride for PASYXE and its members, who have contributed over time to the formation of a professional hospitality culture that is today recognized at a European level.
