This year, the Regional Unit of Drama is participating in Oneiroupolis, the city’s top Christmas event that attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all over Greece and abroad every year, with a new, original and absolutely festive action.
The action, entitled “The Heroes of Christmas are calling you – Discover Drama”, utilizes the possibilities of augmented reality (AR) and combines digital innovation with family experience, functioning as a modern tool for the tourism promotion of the Prefecture.
At the center is the specially designed “Little House of Oneiroupolis”, which functions as the main showcase of Drama. The space, decorated with lights and garlands, welcomes and guides visitors, while also featuring QR points that invite children and adults to scan and “bring to life” the Christmas heroes through their mobile phones. This is also where the souvenirs that accompany the children’s participation are collected.
The heart of the action is the daily AR experience “The Heroes of Christmas”, which takes place throughout the entire duration of Dreamtown. Children meet digital heroes such as Santa Claus, the elves, the Three Wise Men and the Christmas Fairy, and participate in short Christmas challenges that appear on the mobile screen. By scanning QR codes at various points, they are invited to smile, make a wish, take a selfie or answer short Christmas “secrets” of the heroes. The experience culminates with an impressive AR projection, in which Santa Claus’s sleigh flies over Drama, connecting the magical world of Oneiropolis with the real sights of the area.
The action follows a short storyline, with the “Mission of the Christmas Heroes” starting from Santa’s letter, which gives the children the role of the little helper. As they collect the “magic signs” from the QR codes, they finally reach the activation of the sleigh, completing an interactive treasure hunt with a clear Christmas identity.
A special place in the action is the printed souvenir “Magic Passport of Oneiropolis”, a small booklet with pages dedicated to the sights of Drama. Children collect stamps by completing each challenge, while at the end of the experience they receive the stamp of the Regional Unit of Drama, acquiring a collectible and at the same time educational souvenir that enhances the visibility of the Prefecture and beyond the event venue.
With the above action, Drama attempts to create a warm, festive and at the same time modern experience for families, enhancing its presence in Oneiroupolis in a way that combines technology, games and tourist identity. At the same time, it seeks to highlight local attractions, enhance the diffusion of the image of Drama and form a clear imprint on the digital presence of the Region, utilizing the most popular Christmas event in the region as a natural channel of promotion.
