Chios strengthened its international profile with a comprehensive and successful participation in the Travel Turkey Izmir International Tourism Fair, one of the most important events in the tourism market of the neighboring country.
In statements to Tornos News, the President of the Chios Tourism Organization, Kostas Moundros, emphasized that Chios had to be there and that it did so with absolute success, highlighting the importance of the islands consistent presence at major events in Turkeys tourism market. As noted, the fair included substantial B2B contacts as well as a series of awards for shipping agents and organizations, further strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting maritime and tourism mobility.
The participation included institutional and business representatives from the Municipality of Chios, the North Aegean Region, the Chios Chamber of Commerce, the Hotel Association, tourism professional associations, and numerous entrepreneurs. At the same time, two musicians from Chios added a strong cultural element, attracting large numbers of visitors. It is worth noting that over 1,000 videos were captured by participants, demonstrating the impressive impact of Chioss presence. This element served as an organic promotional tool, significantly enhancing the islands image.
Meanwhile, at a central hotel in Izmir, a ceremony of honorary distinctions was held under the auspices of the Greek Consulate General. General Consul Alexandros Konstas was honored for his contribution to the tourism development of Chios, followed by awards to shipping companies operating the Chios?e?me line and to Tursab Izmir.
Supporting this impact, a key communications advantage was the continuous display of a short video about Chios at the main entrance of the fair, reinforcing the islands visual footprint and recognition.
The Chios Tourism Organization expressed warm thanks to the North Aegean Region, the Chios Regional Tourism Office, the Municipality of Chios, and Experience Chios, as well as the Chios Chamber of Commerce, for their consistent cooperation, which ensured a successful presence at the fair. Thanks were also extended to Stoupakis Drinks, Tetteris Distillery, and Psychis Distillery for providing products to visitors.
