European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Canete is due to carry out his first visit to Athens on Thursday and Friday, meeting with the Greek state and political leadership.
Among others, Canete will meet President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Thursday, followed by a working meeting and joint press conference with Environment and Energy Minister George Stathakis at 12:15.
On Thursday afternoon the Commissioner will meet reprensentatives of groups active in the environmental and energy fields and then meet main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
On Friday morning before his departure from Athens Canete will address the Greek Parliament during a joint session of the Parliamentary Committees on European Affairs, Production and Trade and Environmental Protection.
