A breakfast seminar on how the shipping industry, organisations and individuals can help prevent, reduce and remove plastic pollution from the ocean was organised by the Norwegian Embassy in Athens and the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA), to mark World Environment Day 2018 and the start of the Posidonia shipping exhibition, ANA reports.
More than 120 participants gathered for the seminar, held on Monday, including top executives from Norwegian and Greek maritime companies, and discussed concrete ways of beating marine pollution, the theme of World Environment Day 2018. All agreed that there is a major role for industry to play in driving innovation, technological development and new standards for how business is done. The aim of the seminar was to inspire to concrete action by highlighting the many ways actors are approaching the challenge, in Norway and in Greece.
