In its latest report, WindEurope stressed that Greece will see an increase in its wind power capacity by more than 1,300 megawatts (MW) in the 2018-2022 period.
The report titled “Wind Energy in Europe: Outlook to 2022″, points out that this is an increase of 50%, compared to the country’s capacity at the end of 2017. It also estimates an overall increase for Europe with 17,400 MW by 2022, to a total of 258 gigawatts (GW) from 182 GW in June 2018.
“Greece has to multiply its efforts and to significantly exceed the current estimate for new wind power installations in the near future, in order to remain on the road of green energy,” Panagiotis Ladakakos, President of ELETAEN (The Hellenic Wind Energy Scientific Association) noted in an announcement, adding that “to achieve this planning and implementation it was necessary to promote massively – with specific measures and policies – all wind energy options”.
