The cooperation between solar power specialist Juwi Hellas SA and Hellenic Petroleum (HELPE) to construct the largest solar power park in southern Europe is a prime example of German-Greek collaboration opportunities, German Ambassador to Athens Ernst Reichel told Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Monday.
Juwi Hellas is a subsidiary of Germany-based Juwi, specializing in solar power parks, and will develop a 204MW park purchased by HELPE in Kozani, northern Greece, to be operational by end-2021. The 130-million-euro investment will create 250 jobs in Kozani alone, the ambassador said.
Reichel expressed his certainty that German businesses will continue to invest in renewable energy sources in the following years, while in a tweet he posted he called the investment “a great victory for coal reduction.”
