Mayors of several Greek cities, along with a minister, took to their bicycles on a tour of Athens on Wednesday to celebrate the UN’s World Bicycle Day, according to ANA.
Participants included Environment & Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, mayors union (KEDE) president Dimitris Papastergiou, Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis and other mayors from throughout Greece who cycled along the Great Walk of Athens, the project under construction in the capital city of Greece.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport announced on Wednesday it is Greece’s first public institution to receive the certificate of ‘Cycle-Friendly Employer’, the EU’s certification scheme developed in 2014 to establish a European standard for bicycle-friendly firms.
