Turquoise, crystal clear waters surrounded by a small forest is what a visitor will see when he arrives at the beautiful bay of Glarokavos in Halkidiki, protothema.gr reports.
It is like you have entered a scene out of a fantasy movie once you come upon the serene beach which resembles a lagoon. It is no coincidence that locals call the place “Blue Lake” of Halkidiki.
Glarokavos is one of the most incredible and cosmopolitan areas in Halkidiki, as it has many things to offer its guests. Starting with the seaside itself, along the stretched beach you will find places with sand and fine pebbles, while in other spots you will come across stones, which is why slipping into some suitable footwear is advisable.
Even though it has quite a few beach bars to cater for all tastes, Glarokavos is so large that you can pick a spot and unfurl your mat along with your umbrella and enjoy that dreamy water of Halkidiki.
The beach is situated quite close to Pefkochori, a beautiful and picturesque settlement located at southeastern part of the Kassandra peninsula, at a distance of 19 km from Kallithea in Halkidiki. It is the ideal spot to use as a base from which you can go on to explore other exquisite beaches and small gems in the wider area. Surrounded by rich pine forest and olive groves, Pefkochori will remain an indelible memory imprinted in the mind of anyone, confirming the name locals have come to know it by as “The Little Paradise of Halkidiki”.
