“The central goal of our struggle for the protection of the environment is to eliminate the burning of fossil fuels,” Minister of Environment and Energy, Pantelis Kapros, said on Monday on the occasion of World Environment Day, ANA reports.
In his statement, the minister pointed out: “The World Environment Day reminds us of humanity’s highest goal to protect the environment and the ecosystems on our planet. Preventing the risk of climate change must be the first concern of all countries. Global warming, rising sea levels, drought, and extreme weather conditions are already underway mainly because of the burning of oil, coal, lignite, and natural gas.”
