Greece’s Environment & Energy Minister Theodoros Skylakakis referred extensively to offshore wind parks on Thursday, while addressing the plenary during a discussion on his ministry’s bill that includes several environmental and energy provisions, ANA reports.
Greece presents a significant wind potential, noted the minister, which makes it “unique throughout the Mediterranean for the development of offshore wind parks.”
The principal advantage is the strong, lasting winds, he noted, which means “wind parks can operate for up to 4,500 hours, plus are also a short distance from a mainland area.”
